The Smallest Unit of Information, “Single Document” Free Material
An icon of a single sheet of paper with unnecessary decorations stripped away. The design with the top right corner of the document folded (dog ear) symbolically conveys that it is a digital “file.” While an icon with multiple sheets of documents represents “accumulated data,” this icon is suitable for expressing lighter, single elements such as “a new page” or “an individual file.”
Specific Usage Scenes and Suggested Applications
This icon is active as the foundation of any UI, from OS file operations to website page links.
- For “Create New” Buttons in Apps and Tools: Combined with a “+” mark, as an action button meaning “Create a new file” or “Add a new page.” It conjures a “blank slate” or a “start” where nothing has been written yet (or has just begun to be written).
- For “Individual Article” Icons on Blogs and Media: On an article list page, as a thumbnail or icon indicating individual articles. By using it in contrast to a folder icon (category), it structurally conveys that this is an end-point content page.
- For “Draft” Displays in Status Management: In CMS or posting screens, as an icon indicating an article that is “saved as a draft” and not yet published. In contrast to completed production data (multiple documents), it can imply that it is light data in the middle of production.
- For “Individual Download” Links for Invoices and Quotes: As a button to download a specific single form, such as “Invoice for Month X, Year 202X.” It clearly conveys to the user that what will be downloaded is “one file.”
- For the “File” Image in Notepads and Text Editors: As an icon indicating a text file (.txt) or a simple memo. It gives the impression of a memo pad you can casually write on, rather than heavy report paper.
Editing Tips and the Merits of the EPS Format
Commercial use is also free. In addition to PNG and SVG that can be used immediately on the web, we also prepared EPS data ideal for printing purposes where image quality does not degrade even when enlarged.
By utilizing the EPS format (vector data), various arrangements taking advantage of the simple shape are possible. Using software like Adobe Illustrator, deleting the lines inside the paper makes it “completely blank (new),” while conversely placing text or images makes it an icon of a “completed flyer.”
It is a highly extensible material that can be transformed into icons for completely different purposes with just a little addition, such as drawing a clip on the edge of the paper to make an “attached file,” or drawing a pushpin to make a “bulletin board poster.”
